Thanksgiving and Pecan Praline Cake

We just moved back to Magnolia right after Thanksgiving. There is SO much more space in this house than in our tiny one in Denton, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done before the baby arrives.

Anywho...... Speaking of Thanksgiving!! We visited family in north Arkansas for Thanksgiving and it was awesome getting to see everyone (it's been a year or more since I have seen many of them). We went to my Aunt Judy's house (as we do for many holidays) and it's like a great big family potluck... everyone brings a dish or two (or three... or more) to contribute to the meal and we sit around with the food on the table all evening picking at this and that and talking (there's a LOT of talking when you get my family together). This year -- my immediate family provided many of the desserts. My brother made a cherry rum cake. My little sister made the ever-so-famous "Better Than Sex Cake" and I made this::

Southern Pecan Praline Cake with Butter Sauce -- yummmm.... My mouth waters just thinking about it! It was a big hit and soooo super moist. The name got me... I love anything with the words "pecan praline" in it. But just a heads up -- looks can be deceiving! This cake may not look like it's the best thing out there, but it IS -- I promise!

My mom just made it a few nights ago for a Sunday School Christmas party and it was the most popular dish there. She came home to several friend requests on Facebook with messages asking for the recipe. We have both decided that this is our new "go-to" recipe for any potluck we attend in the near future.

The recipe on the blog says to spoon sauce over individual pieces of cake, but since I made it for a crowd, I poured the sauce over the entire cake and it was still amazing!
